Future Advocacy is a non-partisan consultancy and think tank working at the intersection of advocacy,  global affairs, and technology.

Our team has deep practical experience of how changes in government policy and business practice can be achieved by transforming the assets our clients have, into the power they need, to achieve the change they want to see in the world.

Olly Buston

Future Advocacy was founded by Olly Buston who was a key architect of the Make Poverty History Campaign. Olly was Europe Director of Bono and Bob Geldof’s ‘ONE’ advocacy and campaign group for 7 years and has also worked as Director of the Walk Free anti-slavery movement. Olly was recently named as a top UK AI Influencer. Olly received a distinction for his Master’s in Development Studies from the LSE and a First Class in Social & Political Sciences from Cambridge University. Olly loves writing. He has drafted numerous policy reports; a tweet for the Pope; and the script for a campaign film featuring a host of Hollywood stars. He is currently (very slowly) writing a screenplay.

Cath Elliston

As an Advocacy and Campaigns Lead at Future Advocacy, Cath has worked on a range of issues, from early childhood development to ending AIDS. Now she’s throwing her energies into promoting child health and wellbeing with the Jamie Oliver Group. Her favourite professional moment at Future Advocacy so far is working with the Deputy Headteacher from Educating Yorkshire (a county close to her heart) to restrict the sale of energy drinks to kids. She graduated with a First Class degree in English from Cambridge University.

 

Cath Elliston

As an Advocacy and Campaigns Lead at Future Advocacy, Cath has worked on a range of issues, from early childhood development to ending AIDS. Now she’s throwing her energies into promoting child health and wellbeing with the Jamie Oliver Group. Nika Strukelj

Nika has co-authored reports on AI and health, for which she conducted literature reviews, interviews and round tables. She has worked on supporting the implementation of the Elton John AIDS Foundation’s advocacy strategy, and is helping to develop advocacy priorities for the Jamie Oliver Group, Bite Back 2030 and Movember. She has co-produced Future Advocacy’s advocacy masterclasses. Nika is a graduate from Cambridge University and is compiling a recipe book with family stories that she hopes will be handed down.

Areeq Chowdhury

Areeq is the Head of Think Tank at Future Advocacy focusing on the social, economic, and political impact of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies. A graduate from the University of Birmingham, Areeq has worked at the Foreign Office; the Department for Culture, Media and Sport; KPMG; London City Hall; and the UK Parliament. He is the founder of WebRoots Democracy, a think tank centred on the intersection of technology and democratic participation.

She co-authored our latest report on digital health in low-income countries for the Pathways for Prosperity Commission, and is supporting advocacy strategy projects with clients such as the Global Agriculture and Food Security Program and Movember. Anna has experience in feminist and environmental campaigning, and worked for the UN Human Rights Council and the Right Livelihood Award Foundation in Geneva. She received a Double-First Class degree in Politics and Social Anthropology from Cambridge University.
