BRAVE MOVEMENT

Supporting survivors of childhood sexual violence to create change on a global scale

The Brave Movement is a survivor-led global movement fighting to end childhood sexual violence. We provided campaigning, policy and research support to the movement, and developed an advocacy strategy focused on influencing the 2022 G7 Summit to take action to end childhood sexual violence. We supported mobilisation of survivors across the world, raising the profile and recognition of the movement. After only 3 months of campaigning, the Brave Movement secured a significant commitment made in the 2022 G7 Summit Leaders Communique.

We have also been supporting the Brave Movement’s efforts at the European Union level, by providing advocacy and campaign support to survivors of childhood sexual violence, particularly around the proposed Regulation to prevent and combat child sexual abuse. As a result of those efforts, Brave’s call to establish a Survivors’ Council in the EU Centre to fight child sexual abuse has been heard and adopted by the European Parliament. This will ensure that survivors’ voices are heard and that they are able to provide invaluable recommendations and perspectives on policies to tackle childhood sexual violence.
